Terms of Service

Effective December 1, 2026 · Romeo Soria Jr., doing business as Platypurse

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Romeo Soria Jr., a sole proprietor in California, doing business as Platypurse ("we", "us"). They cover your use of Platypurse at platypurse.app and any Platypurse app. By creating an account or using Platypurse, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Platypurse.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we handle it.

Eligibility

To use Platypurse you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • live in the United States
  • have a US bank account that Plaid supports

Your account

  • Give us a real email address that you can receive mail at, and keep it current.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account is for one person. Do not share it or create it for someone else.
  • Tell us at security@platypurse.app if you think someone else has used your account.

Subscription and billing

  • Platypurse is a paid subscription that renews automatically. You are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and your subscription renews each month at the price shown at checkout until you cancel.
  • If you have never subscribed before and an introductory price is offered at checkout, your first month is at that price. After that, or if none is offered, each month is at the regular price shown at checkout.
  • After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation that includes the price, how renewal works and how to cancel.
  • You can cancel any time in Settings → Billing. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
  • Once a year we email you a reminder of your subscription, what it costs and how to cancel.
  • No refunds. Payments are not refundable, including for a partly used month, unless the law requires otherwise. The one exception: if we stop offering Platypurse before the end of a month you have paid for, we refund the unused part of that month.
  • If a payment fails, we may limit access until it goes through.
  • Price changes. If the price of your subscription is going to change, we will email you between 7 and 30 days before your first renewal at the new price, and tell you how to cancel. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal.

What Platypurse is and isn't

Platypurse is a budgeting tool. It reads your own bank data and helps you label and track your own money in pouches and nests.

  • Platypurse is not a bank. It does not hold your money, and it never moves money between bank accounts. "Move money" and daily saving only change how Platypurse divides the money already in your own account. Your money stays at your bank the whole time.
  • Platypurse is not financial, tax or investment advice. Its figures, schedules and suggestions are tools for you to use. Decisions about your money are yours.
  • Balances come from your bank through Plaid and may lag. Your bank's own records are always the final word. Check them before you rely on a figure for anything important, such as avoiding an overdraft.
  • Suggested pouches for new transactions (auto-assign) are made automatically and can be wrong. You can check and change them.

Bank connections through Plaid

  • We connect to your bank through Plaid.
  • By connecting an account, you authorize us and Plaid to act on your behalf to access and transmit your account data (accounts, balances and transactions) from your bank, for as long as the connection is in place.
  • Plaid transfers, stores and processes that data under Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.
  • You can disconnect at any time in Settings → Bank.
  • If your subscription stops being active, we remove your bank connections 30 days later and delete the accounts, balances and transactions they brought in. Your pouches and nests stay, so you can connect again if you resubscribe. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what is reset and what is kept.

Your content and ours

  • What you create is yours. The pouches, nests, labels and settings you create belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to run Platypurse for you.
  • Platypurse is ours. The Platypurse software, design, name and logo belong to us. While you have an account and follow these terms, you may use Platypurse for your own personal, non-commercial budgeting. These terms give you no other rights to it.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use Platypurse for anything illegal, or to connect accounts that are not yours or that you are not allowed to use
  • try to get into another person's account or data
  • probe, scan or test our systems for weaknesses
  • overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, or access it by automated means other than the app itself
  • resell or give others access to Platypurse

If you come across a security issue, please report it to security@platypurse.app.

Termination

  • By you. Cancel your subscription in Settings → Billing. Canceling stops future charges but does not delete your account. If you also want your account deleted, email support@platypurse.app from the address you sign in with. We reply to confirm the request is yours, and delete the account within 14 days of your confirmation.
  • By us. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your use puts other users or the service at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
  • We may stop offering Platypurse altogether. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email.
  • What happens to your data. If your subscription ends but your account stays open, we keep and remove data as described in our Privacy Policy. If your account is deleted, by you or by us, we delete its data as described there.

Disclaimers

Platypurse is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Platypurse will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the data your bank or Plaid provides is complete, accurate or up to date. We are not responsible for your bank, Plaid, Stripe or any other service outside our control.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, overdraft or bank fees, or decisions you made based on figures shown in Platypurse.
  • Our total liability for any claim relating to Platypurse is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and (b) $100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or intentional harm. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these terms or Platypurse will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may instead bring a qualifying claim in small claims court in the county where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date at the top, and if a change is material we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Platypurse after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not, cancel your subscription. Price changes follow the notice rule in "Subscription and billing".

General

  • Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account, and you agree to receive them electronically.
  • Transfer. We may transfer these terms to a company we form or to a new owner of Platypurse, and we will tell you by email if we do. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else.
  • Entire agreement. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Platypurse, and replace any earlier one.
  • If part of these terms fails. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term, we can still enforce it later.
